Robert “Bob” Stanley Ripley ’54

Robert “Bob” Stanley Ripley ’54 of Roanoke, Va., died May 27, 2018. He served in the U.S. Army in South Korea in the late 1950s. He retired from working in financial management at Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare for over 25 years. Early on, he was an English teacher and later served as a volunteer tutor in math and English as a second language. He was involved with the City Salem Credit Union, where he served several terms as chair of the Supervisory Committee. A music lover, he enjoyed opera and was a member of the Roanoke Choral Society for many years. He also loved books and reading and enjoyed searching through used collections for first edition treasures. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of W&M, he was a Merit Scholar and served as treasurer of Pi Delta Phi French honorary. Also, he was a member of the Canterbury Club, the French Club and the Literary Society. Survivors include a sister and nine nieces and nephews.
