A Warm W&M Welcome

Returning students, faculty, staff and university leaders greet members of the Class of 2028 and transfer students with enthusiastic cheering, clapping and singing as they emerge from the Wren Building to pass through a lighted walkway toward the Sunken Garden during Opening Convocation. This year’s ceremony on Aug. 28 featured remarks by celebrated cardiologist and barrier-breaking Nashville recording artist Dr. Cleveland “Cleve” Francis Jr. M.A. ’69.
