Awards and Recognition
Camilla Buchanan ’66, P ’11 was among the women’s winners in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championship cycling race, placing first in the 80-84 age group. Read more about her in the upcoming winter edition of the W&M Alumni Magazine.
Laird Lile ’81 was named among the Top 10 Florida Super Lawyers for the seventh consecutive year. Lile was also recently appointed to the Florida Commission on Ethics as well as the Florida Supreme Court’s Workgroup on Uncontested Probate Proceedings, which aims to improve the performance and effectiveness of the judicial branch.
“The Best Grandmother Names Ever” by Cathy Caputo Livingstone ’86 was featured in a New Jersey Monthly article about books that make great holiday gifts.
Job Changes and Promotions
Jane Carpenter-Rock ’92 is the new acting director of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She joined the museum in March 2022 as the deputy director for museum content and outreach and was responsible for overseeing the departments of Education, Conservation, External Affairs and Digital Strategies, and the Research and Scholars Center.
Janet Nestlerode M.S. ’96, Ph.D. ’04 has been appointed as deputy division director at the Environmental Protection Agency Office of Water’s Office of Science and Technology, Health and Environmental Criteria Division in Washington, D.C.
Dan Robinson ’12 has been promoted to principal at Cornerstone Research, a leading provider of economic and financial consulting and expert testimony. Robinson leads teams and manages research in matters arising from shareholder lawsuits, mergers and acquisitions, breaches of contract and regulatory investigations.
Emily Shooltz ’98 has been named artistic director at off-Broadway's Signature Theatre. She spent 14 years in the position of associate artistic director of Ars Nova, where she fostered works that the organization commissioned from early-career playwrights and developed them for production.
Howard Turner M.B.A. ’02 was hired as the senior director of preconstruction and risk management for energy and technical services at McKinstry, a national construction and energy services company. Turner will lead preconstruction and risk management efforts for energy, sustainability and decarbonization projects across the U.S., focusing on existing facilities.
